Raise your voice with the Festival Chorus!
Join massed choirs from across London and the South East to sing in the 2018 Festival Finale, a choral celebration of all things naval. The Festival Chorus, joined by the Festival Orchestra, will sing Joseph Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Alexander L’Estrange’s Ahoy! Sing for the Mary Rose at our closing concert on Saturday 30 June in the stunning setting of St James’s Sussex Gardens (W2 3UD).
Singers can take part as individuals, or as part of a choir. There are three chorus rehearsals with conductor Helen Smee, plus a combined rehearsal involving all of the participating choirs. Singers should attend as many of these as possible:
- Rehearsal 1: Sat 19 May 1-3pm at St Mary Merton, SW19 3HJ
- Rehearsal 2: Sun 10 June 2-4pm at St Mary Merton
- Rehearsal 3: Sun 17 June 2-4pm at St Mary Merton
- Final rehearsal: Mon 25 June 7.30-9.30pm at St James’s Sussex Gardens, W2 3UD
You should be prepared to spend some time looking at the music at home if you are not a confident music-reader. The Festival team will provide learning resources to all singers.
There is no cost to singers taking part in this year’s Chorus. Singers may bring their own scores, or hire copies from the Festival at a cost of £2 per score. If you would like to hire a score, please indicate this on the online form (see below).
